Road to Zero presents a new VCE® offering for 2021

Transport Accident Commission (TAC), in collaboration with expert VCE® teachers, has developed a free learning experience for VCE
Health and Human Development (HHD). We invite you to come into the Road to Zero at Melbourne Museum over the summer holidays and try the app for yourself!
Guided by an app on their own device, the program
immerses students in Road to Zero’s digitally interactive and highly engaging environment, while addressing key areas of the VCE® HHD study design:
- Unit 3, Area of
Study 2 – Promoting health and wellbeing
- Unit 4, Area of Study 2 – Health and the Sustainable Development Goals
The app guides students
through the TAC’s Road to Zero Experience Space at Melbourne Museum, inviting them to apply their understanding of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion and the Sustainable Development Goals to the important issue of road
safety.
Students complete a range of hands on experiences, respond to short answer questions and have the opportunity to edit their responses after viewing high-level sample responses. Students
receive an email copy of the revision notes they create at Road to Zero.
Consisting of three modules, the app experience enables students to revise key knowledge and apply key skills in preparation for exams
and other assessment tasks.
- Module 1: Action Areas – explore Victoria's road safety health promotion
strategy, and then apply the action areas of the Ottawa Charter.
- Module 2: Health Promotion Strategies – consider how Road to Zero reflects the health promotion
strategies that underpin the Ottawa Charter.
- Module 3: Sustainable Development Goals – explore how Road to Zero is working towards achieving SDG 3 key feature
‘halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents.’
Flexible and free of charge
Students can take part in the
program in a variety of ways. All options are free of charge to students and schools whether they participate as a class group or independent visitors.
- Individual: students can visit Road to Zero during museum opening hours. No booking required.
- Class:
teachers can arrange to take their VCE® class into Road to Zero. This option includes a scene-setting introduction to road safety by a facilitator, and use of a learning studio for one hour. Booking
required.
- Revision session (TBD): students can attend a free revision session during the school holidays. Booking required.

to Zero Experience Space at Melbourne Museum.

Don’t forget that Road to Zero also offers a free, curriculum based
program for Year 9 and 10 HPE students, as well as programs specifically designed for science and VCAL students. In addition, the Road to Zero Regional In-School Program caters for students who cannot easily attend the experience at Melbourne Museum
due to distance.
