Hitting the road to engage with Victorian tertiary HPE students

To help tertiary students understand ACHPER Victoria’s role and how we provide support to health and physical education (HPE) teachers, our Professional Learning team have been out and about visiting tertiary schools to spread the good word.

As teacher training doesn’t stop at university, by visiting tertiary institutions we aim to inform and encourage new and / or emerging teachers to engage in lifelong learning. Our intention is to help these teachers feel supported to build capacity to deliver quality HPE teaching and advocate for positive change in their schools.

Engaging with ACHPER means you become a part of the vibrant HPE teaching community with opportunities to:

  • Attend graduate teacher support events
  • Make connections with other teachers
  • Gain access to high quality resources and information
  • Gain a better understanding of the HPE field prior to starting work
  • Find professional development opportunities to better prepare you for teaching
  • Access a dedicated support network
  • Volunteer and start making connections with the HPE field, and... much more!

In the past month, we’ve visited with students at Australian Catholic University (ACU) and Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds and Burwood campuses, with visits to Monash University, RMIT and Federation University scheduled for the coming weeks. You'll see some of the people we’ve spoken to volunteering at our #ACHPERVIC19 conference coming up from 28-29 November!
