Child Safe Statement of Commitment

The Child Safe Standards apply to organisations providing services for children. As a charity “providing services to children”, ACHPER Victoria is considered a category 2 'in scope' organisation.

Primarily an association for teachers, ACHPER Victoria provides 1-2 activities for children each year limited to our VCE® student Exam Preparation workshops. Our Professional Learning team visit schools as consultants to teachers and for occasional projects, but are not engaged with instruction or care of students.

All ACHPER Victoria staff either hold a current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or current Working with Children Check.

Child Safe Statement of Commitment
  • ACHPER Victoria is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making.
  • ACHPER Victoria meets the Victorian Government’s Child Safe Standards of 1 July 2022 and has zero tolerance for child abuse.
  • ACHPER Victoria is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Particular attention will be paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as the safety of children with a disability.
  • Every person involved in ACHPER Victoria has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.
