Active Schools Update – May 2022

The Active Schools team hit the ground running in Term 2 with the first of our regional workshops in Bundoora and Geelong. These regional events provide a great opportunity for our Expert Support Service (ESS) team to deliver free, in-person professional development to schools, helping build teacher capacity that leads to sustainable change to become an Active School. Each event is specifically tailored to address the Active School priority areas of greatest relevance to that region.

Workshop sessions are delivered by a combination of industry experts, ESS staff and local teachers engaged in developing their school’s physical activity culture. Evidenced-based and aligned with school needs, the sessions provided attendees with a range of ideas they can readily implement in their school setting.

On Wednesday 11 May we also ran the first of our Online Community live chat events. It was great to see a number of schools checking in virtually.

Regional PD sessions

It was so exciting to welcome teachers to the first two regional workshops in Bundoora and Geelong. After delivering many webinars about the Active Schools framework, it was refreshing to meet face to face with such passionate teachers, eager to build their competence and confidence in creating more active school cultures within their schools.

Delegates understood that with the current focus on improving students’ physical activity and mental health, we really are in a unique position to enact lasting change! Thank you to our fantastic presenters (listed below) for their excellent support and for sharing their expertise:
