Road to Zero
Transport Accident Commission (TAC)’s Road to Zero, located at Melbourne Museum, is a free, curriculum-based learning experience that uses the latest digital technology to teach the physics of road safety and principles of effective public health campaigns. The aim of the experiential program is to engage young people and the broader Victorian community in understanding what we all need to do to achieve the vision of Towards Zero - a future where no one is killed or seriously injured on our roads.

The program directly addresses the Year 9 and 10 Health & Physical Education curriculum in the areas of:

  • Personal, Social and Community Health – communicating and interacting for health and wellbeing (VCHPEP148)
  • Personal, Social and Community Health – contributing to healthy and active communities (VCHPEP149).
  • It also addresses the VCAL curriculum and the Science curriculum at Years 9 and 10.

Make sure that you check out the Road to Zero exhibition stand at the ACHPER Victoria’s Secondary and VCE HPE Conference on Friday 21 June where staff will be giving out Road to Zero-branded Keep Cups to attendees who sign up to receive updates about the education program.

Road to Zero Project and Content Manager Anne Harris and Education Coordinator Elke Barczak are also speaking at the conference (elective session C05), and will share practical examples of how the Road to Zero program can be utilised within the Health and Physical Education curriculum.

For more information about Road to Zero and to book a 2019 class excursion, go to roadtozero.vic.gov.au or call (03) 8341 7767 during business hours.
